De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) Danzcom Pep Squad notched a gold and a silver medal in two all-girl pom pairs divisions of the 14th National Cheerleading Championship (NCC) at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena, Mar 10.

Competing with the other six national qualifiers in the open pom pair division, Camille Ana Da Silva and Rachelle Mae Torres of team green emerged as champions for this year’s NCC theme “We Are Fearless,” with their powerful near-flawless routine.

Meanwhile in the all girl college pom pairs, Gwendelyn Acebedo and Jasmine Joy Morada wowed the crowd with a strong pose, groove and attitude on the floor, cinching them the 1st runner-up spot at the podium.

According to head coach John Lorenz Macalinao, the team’s edge was in their routines, movements and choreography.

“The difficulty of their choreography is also higher than some of the other teams and the overall effect of the routine has a contribution also to this podium finish,” Macalinao said.

The DLSL Danzcom Pep Squad thus maintained their NCC championship for the open all girl pom pairs division. Last year, they also brought home three gold medals in the college, senior and open pom pairs categories.
