Following recent achievements in the Nurses Licensure Examination (NLE), De La Salle Lipa’s (DLSL) College of Nursing (CON) aimed to maintain consistent ratings with its preparations for the upcoming August NLE, March 23.

Placing 9th among nursing schools nationwide in the Nov. 2025 exams, DLSL attained a 99.35% passing rate, exceeding the national rate of 90.04% by 9.31%. The institution then scored 100% in the Feb. 2026 NLE, surpassing  the national rate of 44.24% by 55.76% and its previous rating by 0.65%.

Intending to keep their momentum in the NLE, Nursing Program Chair Br. Michael Vincent Paildan FSC discussed that faculty members helped the students prepare for the board exam through curriculum-embedded refresher courses and careful selection of review centers.

“We have been putting in place refresher programs for our students […] to prepare them for the upcoming NLE, and […] we already have made sure that our students are prepared […] with their test taking skill. We [also] vet for a selection of review centers for the students,” said Paildan.

Additionally, DLSL Clinical Instructor and Team Leader for Refresher Classes Dale Fernan Castillo mentioned that the faculty adjusted their teaching approach to encourage student engagement in the review classes and avoid unnecessary stress for the exam takers.

“We didn’t just make them understand the lesson, but we ensured that they will enjoy the process of reviewing, [so] that it won’t add up to their […] cognitive load, […] [and] emphasize that learning is fun,” said Castillo.

Moreover, Castillo asserted that the previous NLE results were a collaborative effort between the students and the college.

“Our students put in their best effort, as well as the preparations […] that we’ve built all throughout the years […] because once they leave the institution, we don’t want them to be empty handed, and that manifested [into] the NLE results,” added Castillo.

With the next NLE this August, fourth-year nursing student John Job De Castro remained eager to pass the boards despite being pressured by limited preparation time and previous NLE results.

“Medyo nakaka-pressure talaga siya kasi ilang months lang ‘yung pagitan [from our graduation]. Tapos ngayon naman ay nakita natin ‘yung previous results. Pero kahit papano, I’m really looking forward na makapasa,” said De Castro

Meanwhile, Carl Laurenz Guinto, one of the newly registered nurses from the Feb. 2026 NLE, advised the next batch to prioritize their well-being and plan getaways responsibly while keeping their board exams in mind.

“Prioritize your health, because, if  kaya mo naman nga siya mentally, but you can’t physically, […] hindi ka makapag-take sa board exam. [Also], realistically speaking, if may plans [kayo] […] to go out, […] it’s really okay as long as you do it responsibly,” said Guinto.

During CON’s Nurses’ Week event, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academics (OVCA) commended the college for their achievements in the Nov. 2025 NLE, while Guinto shared a testimonial speech as part of the closing program.
