Capturing three straight sets in the elimination round, the De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) Lady Stallions swept the STI College women’s volleyball team in the 19th season of the Southern Luzon Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SLCUAA), at the SENTRUM, Sept. 9.
In the opening of the first set, the Lady Stallions secured an advantage which immediately forced their opponent to call for an early timeout in the opening set, 7-2,.
The accurate services and tight net defense of the Lady Stallions made it impossible for the ladies in blue to run a play until the end of the first set, 25-12.
Eager for revenge, the ladies of STI threw a massive service ace to start the second set resulting to a neck-and-neck battle.
But the DLSL team quickly regained the momentum, giving them a 7-point lead, 18-11.
Regaining their composure, STI College rallied to produce a 5-2 run as a way keep the score close into winning the set, 20-16.
However, their composure seemed inadequate against the hungry Stallions as STI committed several faults, 25-20.
Giving a comfortable 13-point lead, Erika Gasapos and Clare Hernandez tandem from the Stallions fired two more back-to-back service aces that marked the score-board with 18-5.
The Lady Stallions never looked back, allowing the frustrated Allysa Adriano of STI to give away more points.
A cannon ball like service ace wrecked the STI’s floor defense, giving the Lady Stallions their second win of the conference.
