Almost four thousand people spent their Valentine’s Day on the much awaited Echoes 7 that featured MuniMuni, Michael Pangilinan, Dj Nix and December Avenue in the celebration of De La Salle Lipa’s (DLSL) 56th Foundation week celebration held at the oval, Feb 14.

The event started with three front local acts including the Tito’s of Lipa with Shebs, Singko Sentimos and Roundbox, with covers of local OPM hit songs such as Jopay and Tayo na lang dalawa of Mayonnaise.

It was then followed by a spoken word performance by Antonio Bathan, Pilipinas Got Talent semi-finalist and the other members of the Dripped Art Movement.

Headstarting the main performances, the indie band Munimuni heated up the stage with their hits such as Tanikala, Kalachuchi and Sayo. The crowd sang along to their iconic song Sa hindi Pag-alala followed by Oras and their ending performance, Marilag.

Concert-goers were further electrified as local artist Michael Pangilinan stepped up on stage and sang his own renditions of That’s what I like of Bruno Mars, Perfect, Ed Sheeran, If I Ain’t Got you, Alicia Keys and Bakit Ba Ikaw.  

Pangilinan serenaded a lucky fan from the crowd and ended his performance with the song Girls Like You by Maroon 5 as jam-packed oval cheered along.

Meanwhile, DJ Nix hyped up the crowd as he owned the stage with his party electro dance music (EDM).

The concert concluded with a heart warming performance from the famous indie band December Avenue who with their hit songs Kahit Di Mo Alam followed by Eroplanong Papel, Sleep tonight and Bulong.

The crowd then sang their heart out when the band played their chart topping song Kung Di Rin Lang Ikaw and Sa Ngalan ng Pag-ibig with their smartphone flashlights on, swaying to the rhythm of the songs.

Echoes is an annual benefit concert organized by the Council Student Organizations (CSO) with the College Students Activities Office.

Having reached the sold out mark, CSO chairperson Maria Angelica Marquez said that she wanted to extend her deepest gratitude to the people who helped and supported them throughout the event as well as to the audience who gave a warm welcome and appreciation to the artists who performed.

“In Echoes Seven we weren’t just lucky, we were ready and it was a success,” Marquez said.
