Jed Magsino, the Council of Student Organizations (CSO) chairperson, was declared as De La Salle Lipa’s (DLSL) Top Outstanding Junior College Student (TOJCS), July 8.

The third year accountancy student expressed in his speech the significance of one’s undertakings beyond mere honor and achievements.

“Lagi nating iniisip, what’s the ideal thing? What do we want? What do others want? What will be a remarkable recognition? But beyond those recognitions, it is our actions, it is our deeds that will stay forever and will touch the lives of many,” said Magsino.

Magsino further highlighted that student leadership is about having an impact on the world and the community, not only being acknowledged and well-liked, “Lagi nating tandaan na mawala man ang recognitions na ito, mawala man ang posisyon, […] ay mananatili kung sino at ano tayo, kung ano ang naibahagi natin sa mundo, ano ang naibahagi natin sa community.”

A Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) secretary turned treasurer of Barangay Bulacnin, Lipa City, Magsino also told the story behind his application for TOJCS in an interview with Lavoxa Online.

“I had no plan to apply [for TOJCS] because I had so many tasks to do […] but then my professors, heads in leadership, and the different offices told me to apply since I have received a nomination letter. So, sinubukan ko na i-comply all the things that I have, all the certificates na ‘meron ako that time,” Magsino said.
