A lopsided clash between green and white!
De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) Stallions ruled the women’s basketball elimination round versus the counter Animo team of the De La Salle Health Sciences Institute (DLS-HSI), concluding the game with a 68-point poisonous lead in the 19th season of Southern Luzon College and Universities Athletic Association (SLCUAA) held at Malayan College Laguna (MCL) gymnasium, Cabuyao, Laguna, Dec. 1.
The Lady Stallions started strong in the first minute of the game, dumping a barrage of scores through a vaulted alley-oop pass of Ferdie Allaine De Guzman to team captain Allen Punzalan that barricaded the Crusaders, 15-0.
Continuing the point streak for the first quarter, Jhasmine Laylo injected a 3-pointer followed by perimeter shots by Punzalan, Laylo and Arianne Castillo, while the DLSHSI squad missed all their attempts at a basket, 27-0.
During the second quarter, the Stallions extended the difference on the scoreboard as DLS-HSI scored its first point, 44-2.
The third quarter saw the Crusaders unable to catalyze a defense and offense on the court as the Stallions sustained their dominance with all its team members represented on the scoreboard. Shiela Reola’s shooting rolls and Joyce Ann Imbang’s passes further gave the team 13 points, 52-8.
The Cavite-based squad tried to intrude in the fourth quarter through a 3-point basket of Romela Laqui; however, the Stallions continued the bloodbath through the uninterrupted momentum of power forward Lyrille Siscar’s play-by-play opportunities with Imbang and Reola, closing the scoreboard at 80-12.
Lady Stallions’ Coach, Alfredo Cubilla Jr., said, “They enjoyed the game, walang pressure para maging magaan para sa kanila at kita naman sa laro nila.”
