A total of 20 graduates from De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) passed the psychometricians exam while four alumni notched the exams for psychologists in the recently held Board Licensure Examination for Psychometricians and Psychologists (BLEPP), Aug. 9.
During an interview with Ryan Laygo, a 2022 DLSL graduate and one of the psychometrician passers, he shared that although he lacked confidence in braving the exam because of the numerous challenges his batch encountered including the pandemic, the transition to modular distance learning, and online practicum, he is thrilled with the board’s high passing rate.
“I hope that by having this figure, more opportunities will come our way. As mental health professionals, we wish to help everyone. Hence, may the firms and entities in every industry and the government aid us in finding our space in society,” said Laygo.
Meanwhile, Julia Kristia Deveza Bataan, a 2014 DLSL graduate and one of the psychologist passers, reflected on the various responsibilities she has had to juggle with such as reviewing in the midst of giving birth to her son and preparing for her second year in medical school.
“My journey is quite different from the psychometrician licensure examination back in 2014. […] It wasn’t easy but I convinced myself to stay relaxed and be optimistic. I’ve learned that you can understand the concepts better if you are relaxed. Also, with the limited time and divided attention, I still pushed myself to have a schedule that worked for me,” said Bataan.
From the 75% passing rate for psychometricians in 2022, DLSL’s percentage decreased by 0.93% at 74.07%, still surpassing the national percentage of 73.27% by 0.8%.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Psychology administered the licensure exam at 14 testing centers nationwide last Aug. 1-2.
