Following her resignation as the Executive Treasurer of the Student Government (SG), Yna Melarie Bobadilla was officially appointed as the Executive President during Signum Fidei: Service and Governance Awards 2024 at the De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) Sports Complex, July 12.

In her first speech as the Executive President, Bobadilla mentioned that their journey towards student leadership will be challenging considering that some college councils are still incomplete.

“As SG officers, we must learn to handle [the challenges] well to the best of our abilities,  […] to learn our values and what things are important to us, and to use it to serve our Lasallian community,” said Bobadilla.

Bobadilla also stated the reason why she thinks accepting the responsibilities of being a leader is already a success.

“My journey in the Student Government started with a “yes” and it will start again this year with a “yes”. It is important to view that saying yes is a success—na kumbaga hindi lahat ng mga Lasalyano ay kayang tumugon sa tawag ng pagseserbisyo,” said Bobadilla.

Bobadilla also emphasized what it really means to be an officer, saying, “We must put into mind that being an SG officer is not just about the recognition. It is about our responsibility to be out there and stand up for others.”

To conclude her speech, Bobadilla reminded the incoming officers of the responsibilities of setting goals for their term and understanding the communities they will serve.
