today is my birthday, and my cake is nice
my friends and i will share a slice
patty is here and julius too
and rita and francis and frank and stu
my candles go out with patty’s big wings
as i wish for all of my favorite things
my gifts are bright and so are the balloons
we stay up all night to watch cartoons
francis and stu play games with me too
and rita and frank say “we’ll draw pictures of you”
our whispers giggle as shadows sneak
in my padded room where we play hide and seek
as the sun starts to shine my friends go to sleep
and i am once again left with memories to keep
now my cake stays still as i make a wish today
that mama and papa will visit me someday
