Aui Dein Tipan, Section Editor of the LAVOXA Group of Publications and an Entertainment and Multimedia Computing student, secured the top spot out of 129 nominations and 52 applications at the annual search for Ten Outstanding Junior College Student (TOJCS), held at the De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) Mabini Auditorium, April 29.

In her acceptance speech, Tipan emphasized the significance of finding one’s own community while having fun in trying out passions and gaining experiences. 

“First rule ko po [in] college is community. You wouldn’t survive college without the friends who will support you and drive you to be the best you can be […] and pinaka-important rule na talagang isinasabuhay ko ngayon is definitely to have fun,” said Tipan.

Furthermore, Tipan encouraged her fellow students to never be afraid of opportunities that life brings as she ended her speech with the statement, “[Say] yes to leadership positions [and] to your passions […] Only one yes can change your entire life. Only one yes can change the track of your path.”

Following Tipan, Mikhaela Yvette Jobli, the Executive Vice President of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) ranked second while Russel Bill Ragas, Vice President for Leadership Development and Socio-Civic Involvement of JPIA received the third spot.

Patricia Wenci Balmes, the Secretary for Reservations of the Student Government’s (SG) Executive Council came in fourth, followed by Jherome Steven Medrano, the Executive President of De La Salle Voices, at fifth.

Meanwhile, Gianna Dominique Dalangin, the Associate Secretary of JPIA, placed sixth, followed by Claire De Castro, the Class Secretary and Former Auditor of Biology Society (BioS) at rank seven.

Awarded at the eighth spot was Chelo Marie Lasat, the Vice President for Audit of JPIA, while Ricardo Jose Merano IV, the Governor of SG – College of Information, Technology, and Engineering (CITE) Council and Princess Grace Ramos, the Class Mayor and former First Year Representative of the Association of Communication Students (ACtS) ranked ninth and tenth, respectively.

In an interview with Lavoxa Online, Tipan also shared that prioritizing the most important responsibilities as a student leader is the key to a fulfilling college life.

“Focus on what’s important sa’yo kasi ang dami-daming pinapagawa especially ‘pag student leader ka […] One thing that you can ensure na makaka-give sayo ng […] fulfilling student life is to focus on what’s important [and] learn to prioritize,” said Tipan.

The TOJCS finalists were screened based on their performances in academics, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and panel interview.
