Proving their prowess as the defending champs, De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) Green Stallions nailed down the STI Sta. Rosa Blue Lions in the Southern Luzon Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SLCUAA) 25-16, 25-7, 25-12, at the SENTRUM, Sept 9.

Aggressiveness elevated the Lipasallians’ early game as the Stallions discharged thunderous spikes in the opening set, upsetting the composure of the opposing team.

While Lions’ Adrian Perez tried to prolong the rallies, it was the towering blocks of John Oseña and Allan Mayuga that killed the comeback attempt of STI, as Primo Rueca stepped up for the set-ender spike of the Stallions, 25-16.

Trying to equalize the momentum, Edmundo Cierva entered the second set with his quick plays, resulting to a herculean task for the Lions to counter the 5-0 run of the home team which was further strengthened by drops released by Ronyel Burias’s power hits, 25-7.

DLSL continued to stick to their game plan, baffling the opponents in obtaining clean receptions in the third set.

Meanwhile, Stallions’ Team Captain, Edel Austria, commanded the team’s back to back cannonballs aided by Mayuga’s well-calculated tosses that ended in a 25-12 mark.
