Batangas is no stranger to earthquakes.

Classes at De La Salle Lipa were temporarily halted around 10:15 AM yesterday, when a 3.9 magnitude earthquake hit Batangas anew.

Students and professors proceeded at the CBEAM parking area and South Lounge to observe safety precautions and stayed there waiting for further instructions.

They were signaled to return in the classrooms and continue normal operations around 10:40 AM after the safety of the area was secured.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the epicenter  is located three kilometers northeast of Mabini, Batangas.

Intensity IV was felt in Mabini, Batangas and intensity III in Batangas City, Bauan and Tingloy, Batangas and Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro. Cuenca, Alitagtag and Lemery, Batangas experienced intensity II.

Among the earthquakes which also hit Batangas this year are the 5.5-magnitude last April 5, twin earthquakes last April 8 and magnitude 6.3 last August 11.
