Aiming to provide an avenue for collaboration and innovation toward sustainability, De La Salle Lipa unveiled the Nexus Innovation Labs, March 14.
Located at the third and fourth floors of the College Learning Resource Center, the four innovation laboratories house some of the newest technologies in the institution, including 3D printers and virtual reality platforms.
Although not yet fully operational, the facility was opened to introduce the features of the hub to the Lasallian community.
The hub is expected to be fully furnished in April, and is set for grand launching on August.
Labs, Features
On the fourth floor, the N Able Makers Lab operates as a work area for circuit board plotting and 3D printing and scanning, while the N Camp Design Lab functions as a virtual sketching and animation studio.
On the other hand, the third floor contains the N Vision Creativity Lab for interactive and constructive plays and the Bloomberg Financial Markets Lab for business and stock market education
Meanwhile, both floors will offer snooze rooms inspired by the Google office set up, although the sleeping pods are yet to be installed.
According to Marrione Camacho, managing director of the project, students from both high school and college departments can use the facility to incubate their work, especially those under the Community-based Action Projects Addressing Strategically-Themed Learning Objectives through Networked Environments (CAPSTONE) initiatives of the school.
“It’s a place where anyone, regardless of background, could come and ideate projects for social impact,” Camacho said.
Aside from this, Camacho shared that students could also volunteer to work in the labs and provide assistance to the school through various fields like marketing, programming, engineering and many others.
